Buying photos.

As an imaging professional, this is how I attempt to make a  living. Our photographs have to be searched for, collated and individually edited before release. Dealing with a film archive is much more involved than digital.

A low resolution image on the internet is very different to a high resolution finished photograph that is worthy of enlargement. If you have ever had to remove dust particles individually from a 35 year old negative or slide, you will appreciate the work involved!  This is partly why it takes hundreds of hours to do a quality book.

Many of our images were hard won, involving not only learning the craft, but sheer legwork in often unsavoury conditions. Literally crawling over broken glass at 1am at an oily lorry park in the poor part of town is not for the faint hearted. Many of our early shots were taken when on the dole too with next to no income. And when you are from Lozells, that has an influence that few will understand.....

The easiest way to buy an individual  photograph is to buy a book. That way you get something tangible and good value for your money. And I can buy food and pay bills.
